Giveaway Monday – Prunella & Golden Birch Elixir and I’m a Medicine Woman, Too! Book

The all new 2013 Herbal Roots zine Wall Calendar will be available for pre-ordering shortly! Here’s a quick peek at it:

This week we have a special elixir made by Kiva Rose of Ringtail Rose Folklorica and a beautiful children’s book written by her partner, Jesse Wolf Hardin, “I’m A Medicine Woman, Too!“. You may know Kiva as the creator of The Traditions in Western Herbalism Conference, Plant Healer Magazine,  The Anima Center or her lovely blog that I often refer to, The Medicine Woman’s Roots.

This multipurpose pair is wonderful wherever there are signs of inflammation with tension and pain. Together, Prunella and Golden Birch make a powerful anti-inflammatory and pain relieving blend. A dropperful can assist with overtaxed muscles sore from physical activity, tension headaches, and even the burning and discomfort associated with mild to moderate urinary tract infections. This combination is also especially useful when there are signs of excess liver heat and tension, including temper fits/outbursts of anger, a red tipped tongue, rapid pulse, frontal headache, bloodshot eyes, and bloating with a band of pain across the top of the abdomen.

Note: Proceed with caution if you have an existing sensitivity to Aspirin and related medications.

This lovely duet was wildcrafted by Kiva and lovingly made in a small batch from her medicine cabin at her home in the Gila Mountains of New Mexico.

Herbalist, wildcrafter, artist, and storyteller, Kiva Rose lives in a canyon botanical sanctuary within the Gila Wilderness of New Mexico. She is also the co-director of the Traditions In Western Herbalism Conference, held each September in the mountain Southwest, coeditor of Plant Healer Magazine, and publisher of the just released historical novel, The Medicine Bear by Jesse Wolf Hardin, and maintains an herbal blog, The Medicine Woman’s Roots.

The author’s delightful daughter Rhiannon was the inspiration and model for this tale of realization and growth, as she first resists believing she could ever be a Medicine Woman like the herbalists and healers she’s met, but then realizes the ways in which she is already the woman of power she hopes to be! Includes a “Name the Herb” game.

Jesse Wolf Hardin is the author of 7 books and over 500 published articles, a teacher of Animá nature-inspired practice and cofounder of the Animá Medicine Woman tradition. He and his partners offer empowering online courses, as well as counsel and healing consultations, retreats and Summer events at their botanical sanctuary in the enchanted wildlands of Southwest New Mexico. His work has been praised by luminaries from Gary Snyder, Paul Winter, Edward Abbey and Joanna Macy to Terry Tempest Williams

Hello! I just started following you on Pinterest and I have two daughters (10 & 6) who, like their momma, are very interested in learning about herbs and how to use them for healing. I know they would be very happy to get this book and I would love it, too! The elixir would really help my aching neck and back muscles. Unfortunately I am a stressful person and I’m trying to learn how to deal with it/get rid of it. Thanks for this giveaway!

I just wanted to mention how much our daughter is enjoying the Herb Fairies series. I really wish it were in print. I had one printed at Kinkos/FedEx and it was $35 for just one of the books spiral bound. I think they would be perfect for reading to the children while they were doing their handwork in class. Any chance after all the books come out we’ll be able to get a printed copy?

  95. 95

Awesome offer! I posted it on FB. The one thing I am missing in my tincture stash this year is a good pain reliever. It is fantastic to have a chance to get a tincture made with fresh herbs and love! And where I do not have a daughter, my son (9) is extrmele interested in being a Medicine Man. I think the world needs more Medicine Men too! He would love the book as well and I can see him filling the borders with notes.

  96. 96

I live in Australia but am a keen follower of this site and of Kiva Rose’s site. All of you do such marvellous work. I often wish I could just phone or email through an order for all the wonderful herbs, herbal products and things you lucky people have access to. Our quaranteen restrictions are quite stiff but I have been able to get some things. This elixer is calling to me.
My body is longing for it. As I read the description I was saying: Yes, yes, yes, YES! Keep up the wonderful work you do, you are an inspiration.

  103. 103

A pain-reliever is always good to have on hand. Additionally, I have liver issues and the specifications sound right up my alley.

The book would be WONDERFUL for my 2 year old son! I think the message goes deeper than the life’s work path, into the idea of “what you want to be is what you already are”, a good empowering message for all people. Also my son has great fun mixing up teas with me! Today we made a chai blend together.

Will share via Twitter and FB and follow.

    Thanks for the offer :)
