***This Giveaway is now closed! Congratulations to 13 year old Bailey! She was randomly selected to win***

RedFoxCvr

This week I have the pleasure to give away a copy of Jane Valencia’s new book Because Of The Red Fox ~ a magical nature taleThis book is a delightful tale of a twelve year old girl and her two cousins who live on Yonder Island. Shell Wakefield has just moved to the island with her father after her planned journey to join her mother in Wales fell through. The three girls plan an outing to Seattle to explore the local bookstore. On their way, they discover many magical and mystical things happening that they cannot explain away.

Shell continues seeing a red fox slip in and out of the landscape, both on Yonder Island and in the bustle of downtown Seattle, while her two cousins insist she is only seeing things as foxes don’t exist on the island. As the day unfolds, time proves that not only has Shell seen a red fox but many other things exist that they thought only to be fantasy as well.

After meeting chickens who can communicate, a family of tree people and a walking, talking tea pot, everything they ever thought to be fantasy becomes reality, including their very own superheroes they created in a secret comic book.

During their journey, the three girls meet some very unique people, discover a way to travel between two worlds and save one of the worlds from disappearing forever.

Because of the Red Fox is indeed a magical nature tale! The weaving of the tale reminds us that we are all made of many layers, some magical, some mundane, some bold and some unusual, layers which make each of us unique and special.

Sounds like just the book I need for my grandchild. I think children spend far too much
Time on computers and watching television with too little time connecting to nature
And their imaginations. Foster a healthy imagination and all things are possible!

When I moved into my casita in Mexico, there was poop on the path to the front door…then again the next day, again right on the path, and it was the same as I read in the first preview pages of the book. I learned that a litter of fox kits had been born nearby, so this was actually their home…so I call it El Nido de Zorro. Looking forward to reading beyond the crossing of the path.

  82. 82

Oh, Jane! This is great and I want to read the rest! First of a series, maybe? As a Celtic storyteller, I love telling Scottish fox fables, and would happily recommend it at gigs. If I get such a copy, I’ll give it to the Pittsburgh Friends Meeting library, so the children can enjoy it too. I won’t keep it, because I’m asking for my own copy for Christmas!
