Dwarf Patio Lemon Tree

At Last! Full sized, edible Citrus fruit can be grown anywhere inside or out of doors in a sunny location, in a container as long as the temperature is between 55F and 85F. Our select Citrus Trees will produce true to type.

This lemon will quickly grow to a height of 2 to 3 feet when grown as a container plant. The size of the plant is determined by the size of the pot. These plants will happily spend their entire life in a 1 to 2 gallon pot indoors. If planted outdoors year-round, directly in the ground, these trees will get 5 feet tall.

These trees will bloom this year and start bearing fruit within the next 12-18 months.

This patio meyer lemon tree is from a cutting and has a well formed root system and is actively growing in a 3-inch pot in a peat/soil growing mix and is 6-8 inches tall. Upon arrival in your home, it will need to be repotted into a gallon container with drainage holes, using either cactus or well draining standard houseplant potting mix.

About Larry and Larry’s Orchids:

Larry’s Orchids is a prime example of a hobby outgrowing itself. In 1986, Our oldest son Larry Jr. purchased a Dendrobium at a local building supply store. When it was finished blooming, instead of throwing it away, he gave it to me and said, “you’re the Biologist – get it to bloom again”. I did get it to re-bloom and thus my Orchid hobby began. I now have a personal collection of over 400 specimen plants from many genera. As a member of both the American Orchid Society and the Michigan Orchid Society I became aware of the number of people in the Orchid hobby. When my personal collection began to outgrow my bench space I sold my doubles on eBay. Surfing the Net I realized this was the easy way to buy different orchids to increase my collection and sell my overstock.

From that single purchase we have now become an Online Nursery and more recently a Michigan Corporation. We grow under glass, lights and during the summer months shade houses. We import flasks, compost, plugs, seedlings and mature plants from the Philippines, Canada, Mexico, South America and Hawaii. We de-flask, repot, and grow the seedlings along with holding the larger plants until they are put up for Auction and/or marketed on eBay and Amazon and our own Web Store.

As a mechanism to create sales numbers more constant year round, in 2009, we introduced into our product line Patio Citrus, Edibles and Tropical Plants. As natural partners to Orchids in many growing conditions etc. this has proven to be a great addition. Orchid sales take a big slump in sales during the warm summer months. Those months however are the time plant buyers are interested in plants for their patio, porch and lanai. The hobbyist ends up parking his orchids under a tree for the summer and really gets into his patio plants. In the fall they are all moved indoors and again the Orchids become the main thrust and the Tropical’s can still fruit and flower inside, up against the door wall. Stocking 30 different varerites of Citrus that are grafted and made for container growing, but producing full size fruit, have us now maintaining our sales numbers all through the warm months. This sales trend also now provides year-long employment for our very dedicated staff.

We have most recently combined our Michigan operation under one 10.000 square foot facility with our Corporate Offices, Northeast Distribution Center and our local Retail/Wholesale Outlet all under a single roof.

I am delighted to be offering some of Larry’s beautiful Lemon trees this week! A huge thanks to Larry for his generous donations for this giveaway and for the previous Vanilla orchid giveaway.

If you’d like to show your support for this homegrown business, you can like his Facebook fan page.

Please note winner(s) CANNOT LIVE IN THE FOLLOWING STATES:  CA, AZ,TX, HI, AK, LA or FL or any US territory, as the USDA will not allow citrus trees to be shipped into those states. I am sorry to be exclusive on this giveaway but have to be due to the USDA regulations.

We’ve used material from the Herbal Rootzine in our home school to teach the kids about herbs. They especially loved working with lemon balm and sampling some lemon balm cookies and tea.

We moved to NC from FL and miss having local citrus, so having our own lemon tree would be a hoot! We’d be making fresh lemonade quite often!

I will definitely have my boys jump on here this afternoon to leave you some of their thoughts. :o)

I went to Larry’s website and was very excited to see that he’s in Clinton Twp, MI! I grew up in Warren, MI, but left the state in 2001. If I was still there, I would definitely stop in and do some shopping. I may still place an order down the road. Aside from where he’s located, some of my favorite things were the carnivorous plants he offers as well as the fact sheet on how to grow your own carnivorous terrarium. I think my kids and I will HAVE to include this in our home school! They will get a kick out of the various meat-eating plants they can grow. I also liked the fact that he offers container key lime trees!! I haven’t made a real key lime pie since before we left Florida. Now that we live in North Carolina, I would still be able to use fresh key limes! What a great idea!!

Beautiful. This kids asked for a “tropical” tree; we live in the Pacific NW, so it would be lovely to have a lemon tree to brighten up a cloudy day- however, the sun does come out every single day!

A little lemon tree sounds so nice! I’ve living down in Georgia and I just started a grapefruit from a seed I found in my breakfast. :) I would love to add another citrus tree to my indoor collection.

It’s hard to pick a favorite thing at Larry’s website. I’ve gotta say I’m really digging on the the tea plants (and tea/coffee package) as I know someone who has had incredible success with an indoor tea plant and I drink a ton of it. The figs are so cool too! Again, I’m still impressed with the ugly duckling and orphan plant rescue program. What a great idea!

there is nothing on earth like lemons….I use fresh lemons to make lemonade and lemon based pies – and grow lemon grass and lemon balm for flavoring….but also for the wonderful odors of the plants’ oils.

I’ve always wanted to grow a lemon tree but thought I could not grow tropicals in my home. Right now I’m trying a fig, a papaya, soursop and tumeric. It’s fun! So now I think I could take care of a lemon tree too! I use at least 2 to 3 lemons a week and the prices are awful expensive at times. My favorite way to use them is 1/4 lemon squeezed into a glass of sparkling mineral water. Refreshing! Thank you for your contests and I love your newsletters.
