***THIS GIVEAWAY IS NOW CLOSED. CONGRATULATIONS TO CRYSTAL A., SHE IS THE WINNER!***
This week’s giveaway is for a herbal care package from my dear friend Jamie Jackson of Missouri Herbs. One lucky winner will get a container of her luscious face cream and a tin of her healing salve. The winner gets to select the scent of face cream and the type of salve.
Health food for your face and body. Our creams are made in small batches with Missouri herbal ingredients grown organically on our farm. The beeswax is harvested from an organic Missouri farm on the adjoining property. There are no artificial preservatives, parabens or perfumes. Essential oils are used in scented creams. Shea butter provides a slight natural scent to the unscented batches. Ingredients are non-comedogenic (won’t clog pores) and were chosen for their skin repairing and moisturizing properties. Tangerine is also good for those prone to acne.
Ingredients: Safflower Oil infused with our organically grown rose hips and Queen Anne’s lace seed, distilled water, shea butter, aloe vera juice, juniper needle hydrosol (not in unscented), hazelnut oil, Missouri organic beeswax, lecithin, lactobacillus ferment, Vitamin E, essential oil (less than 1% in scented creams), and lanolin (less than 1/4%).
Choose from: Tangerine, Lavender, Jasmine or Unscented.
We infuse herbs organically grown on our farm in safflower oil (except for the Poke Root salve) for 6 weeks and combine with organic, local beeswax.
Pick one of the following salves:
Dry itchy skin salve – helps eczema psoriasis or any dry itchy skin.
1st aid/ plantain salve – the “green band-aid” good for bites (especially chigger), cuts, scrapes, torn cuticles and semi-dry skin. Great for those who work with or wash their hands all day. Nice for dry nostrils too.
Juniper salve – Relieves dry itchy skin cancer patches, perfect for routine breast massage, and nice on chest colds. Juniper naturally contains anti-cancer, anti-tumor properties and is very aromatic.
Poke root/ castor salve – shredded poke root steeped in castor oil for 6 weeks. Helps soften and shrink hard cysts or impacted lymph glands. Not to be used more than 6 weeks at a time.
International entries are welcome but must cover the difference in shipping internationally via paypal.
Medicinal herbs grow in prolific abundance on our farm where we create outdoor spaces based on permaculture growing systems. I began studying health and herbs in 1986 and began studying folk herbalism and making plant medicine full time in 2008. My family and I create plant extracts, infused oils, herbal vinegars, dried teas, and spices from our organically grown herbs. With those plant extracts we make rubs/ salves, face creams and a variety of other things based on the season.
As a teenager I experienced a severe health crisis. My mother and grandmother were very interested in using herbs and natural healing methods and that is how I started to learn about using plants as medicine.
In 1986, I got a job in a local health food store and read everything I could get my hands on. Since I read most of the books in the store, they asked me to be the store’s book buyer. Most of the books were geared towards using capsules though.
In 2000 after another health crisis, I turned to food, herbs, breathing exercises and movement; I am now the healthiest I’ve ever been. I started studying folk herbalism and learning how to make plant medicine full time in 2008. My husband has been learning about natural building and permaculture even longer. We hope to teach others what we’ve learned.
