September 2012 – Prunella

Prunella vulgaris is known by many names including Heal All, All Heal and Self Heal, indicating her use for healing, well, just about everything. This lessor used plant of the herbal world is a wonderful healer all around but has fallen out of use by contemporary herbalists. Used mainly in Traditional Chinese Medicine, this herb has so many wonderful uses that now Western herbalists are paying attention and adding her back into the herbal repertoire.

This month we’ll explore the world of Prunella and learn all about her healing qualities. We have lots of fun recipes, crafts and games to use to help you to get to know Prunella. By the end of the month you should have some lip balm, cream, liniment and much more that you’ll be happy to reach for the next time you cut, scrape, bruise, bump, twist, sprain, strain, burn or otherwise injure yourself!
