Traditionally, plants have been used for dyeing as well as medicine and food. With bright flowers such as Monarda didyma, the pigments are strong enough to be directly pounded onto cloth for decoration. There is a bit of preparation involved with this fun craft so today, select the items you’d like to pound the flowers on such as cotton bags, t-shirts or napkins and mordant them so they will be ready to use.
