What do you think about Vanilla? How does she taste? Is she cooling or warming? Does she leave your mouth dry or moist?  Try some and find out! Vanilla has been commonly used as a flavoring in our favorite desserts, but she has so much more to offer. Vanilla helps to relieve upset stomachs and stimulate digestion. She eases nervous tension and calms emotions. Vanilla has antispasmodic properties, which help to relax muscles and soothe coughs. As an aphrodisiac, Vanilla increases blood flow to central parts of the body to help bring couples closer. She is also used to help treat burns and lower fevers.

If you are ready to experience her medicinal side more fully, turn to page 25 to begin making your very own Vanilla Extract. Once there, you will find the ingredient list, directions, and recommended dosages. The extract needs to be shaken about twice a day. It will be ready in 4-6 weeks. If you are having trouble finding some Vanilla bean pods, head on over to Mountain Rose Herbs. The company has some available at http://www.mountainroseherbs.com/index.php?AID=113760. Happy crafting!
