November 1, 2011 Calendar Entry

Brrrrrrrr! Fall has certainly announced itself to us this year with gusty winds and plummeting temperatures and reports of snow! already in the northern parts of the States.

Take a walk today with a basket in hand and see if you can find some Black Walnut trees growing. They are generally easy to locate and will be mostly bare of their leaves but will still have a few to several balls hanging from their branches.

Gather as many green hulls as you can and if you have an extra basket or sack with you, stash away a few rotten ones as well. Don’t worry, if you don’t see any rotten ones, they will turn very quickly in your house!

Want to find out what you can do with these gems? Pick up this month’s issue, “Wondering About Walnut” for just $7.99:
