Oak – Issue 58

$7.99

Description

This month we celebrate majestic Oak! A traditional medicine and food of the Native Americans, this long lived tree has much to offer. This past month we’ve been harvesting, cracking and preparing acorns to be used in the upcoming months as chai and flour. A staple in both Native American and Asian cuisine, acorns are so often overlooked when they provide lots of nutrition and medicine.

White Oak bark is one of the most astringent herbs, thanks to his tannins, which historically have been used for tanning hides as well as treating diarrhea and many other ailments. This month we’ll explore both the bark and the acorns for use as medicine and food through games, puzzles, stories and songs. I hope you will enjoy learning about Oak as much as I enjoyed writing this issue!
